Here in the Netherlands, spotting them in the wild is not really possible, but in Peru it is. They are so amazing, small, agile and fast so you have to pay close attention to see one. Before you know it the little bird has flown. Because yes it is incredibly busy. This bird visits about a thousand! flowers a day to drink enough nectar.
Furthermore I was told that they also remember exactly which flowers they ate and in how many days they can come back so that the nectar is replenished. They are also really necessary for pollination.
Let’s see that makes them smart, useful and beautiful among other things, so yes I'm a fan, a huge fan.

Kolibri’s zijn mijn absolute favoriet. Dit kleintje zien laat mijn hart veel sneller kloppen. Niet zo snel als dat van de kolibrie, want dat kan wel oplopen tot 1260 keer per minuut!
Hier in Nederland is zo'n beauty spotten in t wild nauwelijks mogelijk maar in Peru gelukkig wel. Ze zijn zo ongelofelijk, klein, wendbaar en snel dus je moet heel goed opletten. Voor je het weet zijn ze weer verder gevlogen.
Want ja ze hebben het ongelofelijk druk. Dit vogeltje bezoekt namelijk zo’n duizend! bloemen per dag om genoeg nectar te kunnen drinken. En ik heb me laten vertellen dat ze ook nog precies onthouden van welke bloemen ze precies gegeten hebben en over hoeveel dagen ze dan terug kunnen komen zodat de nectar weer aangevuld is.
Ze zijn ook echt nodig voor de bestuiving. Slim, nuttig bijzonder en prachtig, dus ja ik ben fan, mega-fan.
