Before the lockdown I saw this peacock in Portugal. He was shaking his tail in full regalia and tried to impress the five hens in his neighborhood. This is of course part of the mating ritual.

He did not seem very successful because the hens quietly picked on for worms in the ground. In the meantime I was very charmed by his more than impressive tail and his beautiful clear blue breast. And fortunately the bird did not seem discouraged and happily continued to display its beauty.

Peacock teaches you to be proud of yourself. Just step into your own spotlight. You have a unique beauty with gifts and talents that really belong to you. Show them and use them because it makes Y O U happy, not to please or impress the outside world.

'All Eyes On You'- schilderij 13x18 cm

Nog voor de lockdown zag ik deze pauw in Portugal. Hij stond enorm met zijn staart te shaken in vol ornaat en probeerde de vijf hennetjes in zijn buurt te imponeren. Dit is natuurlijk ook onderdeel van het paringsritueel. Hij had niet veel succes want de hennen pikten rustig door naar wormpjes in de grond. Ik was ondertussen wel enorm onder de indruk van zijn meer dan imposante staart en zijn prachtige helderblauwe borst. Zelf leek deze vogel ook niet ontmoedigt en pronkte er lustig op los.

Pauw leert je om trots te zijn op jezelf. Ga maar eens in je eigen schijnwerper staan. Jij hebt een unieke schoonheid met aanleg en talenten die echt bij jou horen. Toon ze en gebruik ze omdat jij daar blij van wordt, niet om de buitenwereld te behagen of te imponeren. Waak er voor om arrogant te zijn, maar als jij geniet van je eigen gaven en deze ontwikkelt voeg je vanzelf iets goeds toe aan de wereld.
Zelfs je onvolkomenheden dragen een schoonheid in zich en ook die helpen je om kansen in je leven te creëren.

Dus benader alles wat op je pad komt met een zekere luchtigheid. Lachen is het beste medicijn om je gezond en gelukkig te houden.
